Each station has a sensor vault that is approximately 1 meter deep and a corresponding recorder/battery hole.
The sensor vault is brick-lined and has a 6-inch pier at the bottom to set the sensor on. Once the sensor is installed, it is surrounded by a PCB tube. The pier and the tube help to keep the rain (monsoon) water away from the sensor.
A styrofoam block is then used to plug the sensor hole to thermally isolate the seismometer.
The recorder hole contains the battery, Reftek recorder, and the breakout box for the sensor. The sensor is connected via an underground conduit.
The majority of the sites are in schools that are behind gates.
