Volunteers
August 1, 2013 30 students and teachers from China, England, and the US visited Caltech. They were attending a meeting of the "Multinational Youth Studying Practical Applications of Climatic Events" (MYSPACE), jointly hosted by CalState LA and JPL. Jacob Hedelius gave a presentation on "Remote sensing of aerosol and gases in LA," Coleen Roehl led a tour of the Linde-Robinson building, Jamshid Hassanzadeh gave a presentation on "CO2 in Earth's atmosphere, oceans, and rocks: An environmental perspective," and Melissa Rice gave a presentation on "Exploring Mars."

July 10, 2013 29 high school and middle school students from China came for a tour of the TO and Seismo Lab, as part of an exchange program led by Caltech alumni Bruce Carter, Professor Emeritus at PCC. Margaret Vinci gave the group a Seismo Lab tour, and then Melissa Rice talked to them about her work on exploring Mars.

A fourth grade class (about 20) from the french school LILA in the West Valley came for the day. From 10 AM to noon, Nadaya Cubas and Marion Thomas led activities such as a sandbox demonstration of mountain building and a slide show about volcanoes.
